Luca De Giorgi & Gavi Piper have just published the first comprehensive climbing guidebook to Vietnam.
In 2012 and 2014 I organised and led expeditions to the Ha Long Bay area of Vietnam. We packed our kit onto a boat and went off in search of unclimbed deep water soloing. We found seemingless endless fantastic limestone climbing. During our time there we managed to establish over 180 new routes in the area. We made sure that the local climbers on Cat Ba Island had all of the new route info and since then they have published two great guidebooks. The Halong Bay Climbing guidebook is a comprehensive guidebook for the bay area only. The new Vietnam Climbing guidebook includes some of the bay area but not all of the areas, so make sure you try to take both guidebooks if you are heading off to Ha Long Bay. Enjoy...
